About

Oliver Harris is a composer and music producer based in London, UK. He brings an intimate, experimental and immersive approach to his scoring projects, which include films, TV dramas, and documentaries.  Currently, Oliver is at work on the upcoming documentary ‘Follow the Patient’ (an inspirational film exploring the realities of healing after Traumatic Brain Injury. In 2024 he’s already completed work on the Gatton Films drama "What We Hide", in which he mixes electronic soundscapes with avant-garde classical techniques to create a darkly atmospheric score to illustrate London's gritty gang culture. For the short "Dinah" (2023), Oliver combined ambient electronic sounds with subtle piano tones and emotive and personal themes. "Dinah" has screened at worldwide film festivals in London, Paris, Los Angeles and beyond, and received an Honourable Mention at the Hollywood Gold Awards.

Other projects include Norwegian experimental short film "Gudene Vet" (2021), nominated at the BFI Future Film Festival 2023, which explores themes of unconditional love and features a hybrid classical and electronic score with theremin. Oliver composed the score for "Susurrus," (2020) a metaphysical journey into ancient witchcraft; the score, inspired by Eastern European culture, was recorded with a live string quartet and helped propel the film to a Best Student Documentary Award at Indie Short Fest.

Oliver also enjoys composing and producing his own work under the artist title of OHMSAN. He releases his music through Time For Art Records, a label based in Edinburgh. Oliver's compositions blend evolving synth textures with live acoustic instruments. In late 2022, he released a series of piano pieces titled 'Piano & The Pup', which consists of minimalist piano recordings reminiscent of the style of French impressionist composers such as Satie and Debussy.

Born in Brighton, Oliver grew up playing trumpet and piano, and studied music at Cardiff University, where he discovered his passion for electronic music.  After completing a Master's Degree in Composition for Screen at the Edinburgh College of Arts, he moved to London and worked as a mixing assistant to audio engineer Sefi Carmel ("The Count of Monte Cristo", "Pearl Harbour") and interned with Italian composer Marco Biscarini, who was one of the final apprentices to the legendary composer Ennio Morricone. Recently, Oliver has been serving as audio assistant to a prominent UK Music Editor, assisting in the coordination of audio delivery for major feature films and TV series.
